Charity Golf tournament 2005
Overwhelming success

On 16 June they were back. The sponsors and their teams. The (former) top sportsmen who captained the flights. The well-known television commentator Herbert Dijkstra who drew the lots and the co-organiser Charity and Sport. This non-profit organisation brings the worlds of sports and charity closer together.
From the very beginning there was a pleasant atmosphere: informal, friendly, and spontaneous. It was a true reunion and everybody enjoyed themselves. In this ambiance Optimix Vermogensbeheer became first. It managed to stay a few strokes ahead of de Stichting Veluvine Nunspeet.

Dr. Rajendra Koju, who has worked in “our” hospital since the founding of Dhulikhel Hospital (1996), presented the prizes.
The “Nepali look” became the winners on the sunny terrace. The tournament had its highlight when we learnt that partly thanks to the golf event 42.000 Euros had become available for the building of the girls students hostel. The Premie Plus Plan of Wilde Ganzen/ ICCO will triple the sum. This makes it possible for the building of an accommodation for 100 students to be begun in October of this year. Thus, because more paramedical students can be housed, the continuity of medical staff at the outreach posts is guaranteed. In this way  medical care is ever closer to the people because of our support. All this was yet again made clear in Dr. Rajendra Koju’s excellent speech during dinner – a Nepalese meal prepared by chef Peter Jonkers of Golf Club Havelte.

For next year we have planned this tournament to be held on Thursday 15 June. A date that should  be jotted down because the golf tournament is here to stay and a vital part of our fundraising.
