Thunder prematurely ends Golftournament 2007

-Winner thanks to new arithmetic method
- Building of Girls’ Student Hostel a fact

Thunder and golf do not go together. There is a lot of metal in a golfer’s gear which has been the cause of many a golfer’s death on the course. Therefore it was right that after 3 ½ hours the match at Havelte was ended. All the players were in the clubhouse in time to continue the reunion for the charity  -the hospital in Dhulikhel  (Nepal)- in a happy atmosphere.
In the meantime the tournament leaders were feverishly working on a new arithmetic method ‘french fashion’ in which the results of the three-and-a-half-hours’ match could be processed in a creative and unique manner.

Winner was Rotary Beilen led by former football international and Feijenoord player Dick Schneider. KPMG was second under the captaincy of Riemer van de Velde and Boom Publishers’ team ended third, headed by Jan Alberts, chairman of the hockey association. The latter beat many a renowned golfer by claiming the longest drive. Former volleyball international and Olympic titleholder Bas van de Goor inspired the Dita team –manufacturer of hockey sticks (among other things)- to perform extremely well. They were fourth and Optimix Financial Management ended fifth.

Jose Poelmans –formerly the world’s best woman hockey player- distinguished herself by winning the longest drive on hole 7 and the neary on hole 17.

Thanks to Charity and Sport, which brings the worlds of sports and charities together, the Golftournament boasted a unique list of topsportsmen. In the morning Henk Gemser linked the sportsmen to the sponsoring firms. As ‘producer’ of dozens of skating champions he felt very much at home amidst present-day hockey internationals, Olympic, World and European titleholders.

This year we played golf for the lacking sum of money for the Girls’ Student Hostel:
€ 14.300. In the past three years we hit the ball for € 45.000. Wilde Ganzen/ICCO tripled this amount. In autumn the accomodation for paramedics will be put into use.
The schooled students are going to work in far outposts, thus bringing the health care yet again one step closer to the population.

Here too Henk Gemser indicated that Hein Vergeer
was two-tenths behind schedule.
